Setup Dynamic DNS
RemoteTap works over any data network, local, Internet or Mobile. To access a Mac from your iPhone when not at home (using a public Wi-Fi hot spot or a Mobile network), you need to use the external, public IP address of your DSL router. You can check your current external IP address here
Remember this external IP address might be changed by your ISP frequently. To avoid changing the IP/DNS address in RemoteTap each time the IP address changes, use a dynamic DNS service which translates dynamic external IP address to a fixed DNS name.
There are several free dynamic DNS providers available, just google for "free dynamic dns". Two of them are www.no-ip.com
. Some routers support these services automatically, else you need to run a client software in your Mac to update your own DNS name.
